Cancel culture inspires fear. Stops people saying what they think. Indeed this is the aim, the silence treated as acquiesence.
For sure at present no cancel culture (right or left) has achieved dominance. For every extreme view expressed on the internet you can find a reasoned rebuttal. So there is no danger?
The author is correct in identifying violence as the point at which we must cancel the cancellers. The problem is this is late in the day. By the time you have large violent cancelling groups in operation then a small reasonable group is going to cancel them? Good luck with that.
So the issue is when to start cancelling the potentially violent cancellers, and no one knows.
