I was an early convert to the 'lab leak hypothesis' and enjoyed Wade's summary.

Even so, I think Fauci should be forgiven for any mistakes.

The grant to WIV was a mistake but in global research terms is tiny and there is no certainty that the particular work done under the grant may have led to the lab leak - the Chinese were doing plenty of their own research.

I think the cover up of the possibility of the lab leak and naming it a 'conspiracy theory' was the work of other aggressive denialist scientists and once underway and amplified in the media it would have been an unattractive proposition to set it right, plus there was plenty to do origanising the covid response.

So some errors but we are all human, anyone else want the job? (with Trump?)
