Other tips:

Look for old stories that everyone has forgotten about but someone has raked over to try and find what really happened. It takes time for the truth to come out.

Trust (fully) retired politicians and other elites more than currently active ones. Make an assessment: Are they old and don't care anymore (good) or still have active friends (bad)
