Well said. The Nazis considered themselves supremely rational and following the science, based on an interpretation of Darwin.

They considered themselves the most genetically advanced 'race' citing their advanced culture and technology as evidence.

This was then coupled to a self-serving policy of invading other countries and making the people there into slaves.

Since the end of WWII we have (rightly) recoiled from the horrors unleashed and take an axiomatic (i.e. without reason) approach to the equal rights of all people.

It is comforting to think that reason can save us, but not so.
