When the existing power structure is torn down there is a power vacuum.

The worst possible people rush into that power vacuum to take over and run things for their own ends.

(power tends to corrupt and absolute power currupts absolutely)

This has been repeated in history many times.

In democracy you have a diffusion of power which helps to prevent these abuses.

There are also many competing groups and some fluidity, it is not a rigid heirarchy.

Wow! That’s so tempting to try, as long as I won’t be around someone for a day. That is interesting, and scary, how easily absorbed something is into the bloodstream. Good luck with the athlete’s foot. That’s a hard one to shake!
